"The concluding verses of the book indicate the wholeness and completeness of the prophet's vision and ministry as a whole. From one perspective, it is a sad book; it begins with Ezekiel in exile, cut off from the land he loved so dearly, and ends nearly a quarter of a century later with the same prophet still in exile. For all his vision, the prophet's lot has remained the same: his place in life has not moved from the alien soil of Babylon. Yet we perceive how the prophet's vision has outstripped the physical experience of his life. Whereas his ministry began and ended in exile, he has moved from desolation to hope."
