Can you explain twofold prophecy? In Daniel, Isaiah, Matthew 24, and Revelation for example there are prophecies already fulfilled, yet some people say they also point to future events. How do you know which prophecies are twofold? -- James Richardson
To begin with, each prophecy must be studied in context. The historical background of the book must be understood. Any secondary fulfillment must be demanded by the text or explicitly indicated in the New Testament. Very few prophecies have a dual fulfillment.
Sadly, most of what you read today in Christian literature or hear on Christian radio concerning prophecy is nonsense. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt.
One more thought. Fee and Stuart's How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth would be a great book to study -- especially the section on prophetic literature.
