I don't understand Deuteronomy 22:5. A lot of women wear men's clothing! --Vero
Some church groups teach that it is a sin for a woman to wear man's clothing, and vice versa. The old law forbade this because it was the way of the pagans (the Canaanites), and God's people are to be separate and distinct. While I am not personally in favor of cross-dressing--primarily because it is usually associated with sexual perversion--technically speaking there is no New Testament verse forbidding this sort of thing. Old Testament commands do not apply to NT times unless they are repeated in the NT. Moreover, clothing styles change, and through the centuries they change drastically! (Ever look at pictures of how men dressed just a few centuries ago? Ever see the ancient Romans (males) in their skirts?)
In short, you understood Deuteronomy 22:5 quite well, only you struggled when you tried to apply this OT law to our situation today. For we live under a different law.
