Jesus means salvation. In both Hebrew (Yehoshua) and Greek (Yesous), this same word is also translated Joshua.
Christ is from the Greek Christos (anointed one). The first Greek letter of this word is chi, written X (as in Xmas). Of course Christ is a title, not a last name.
