In Acts 17 Paul says he found an altar to an unknown God. Has this altar ever been found? Have archeologists discovered it anywhere in Athens?
A number of such altars have been discovered in the ancient Greco-Roman world--at least one in Athens itself. Paul takes as the starting place for his evangelism an object recognized by his listeners.
We too should move from the familiar to the less familiar as we strive to bring our friends to a knowledge of God and his Word; we too should focus on non-believers' self-admitted questions. Or to put it in other words--for many non-believers--evangelism must follow pre-evangelism.
