I have heard a lot about the Boundaries book. Some have warned me not to read it, but others have recommended it. I took a look at it and it seems okay. What do you think? -- A brother in Miami
The book you are referring to, Boundaries, by Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend (Zondervan, 1992), has much to commend it, in my opinion. I too had heard mixed reviews, and then I decided to buy it and read it for myself. This is always a good way to approach an issue: up close and at first hand. You ask for my opinion? I say, Very good! I need this book.
I tend to be someone whose "boundaries" need some adjusting. The subtitle gives the gist: "When to say yes, when to say no to take control of your life." While it is not the word of God, I certainly can recommend Boundaries to anyone. I would imagine, however, that one type of person would feel very uneasy about this volume: the controlling person, especially the controlling person in leadership.
