I have a question about a show called "Crossing Over," with John Edwards. I have gotten into several discussions with a friend of mine about the validity of this show. I don't believe in speaking to the dead and think speaking with the dead doesn't make sense. How do I refute this practice? -- Sarah (Allentown)
There are many passages forbidding necromancy, or speaking to the dead. Read Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:11; 1 Chronicles 10:13; Isaiah 8:19, 19:3; and Galatians 5:20. Whether the dead are actually contacted or not is another matter. In 1 Samuel 28, it appears the witch did truly "bring up" Samuel from the dead. Whether or not we can conclusively refute the practice, God's word tells us to keep our distance.
