Is the concept of "freedom in Christ" (that we have been discussing lately) even biblical? I don't see it in the Bible. I have read about being free from the Jewish law or being free from sin, but nothing more. -- Jack Sutherland
Indeed, the New Testament does speak of freedom in Christ, as you mentioned, in terms of freedom from sin and law. I think you are right--there is no such thing as absolute freedom. We may choose between living under different sets of limitations, but no one is totally "free" on the sense that God is free. That sort of freedom is an illusion. This, of course--I am sure you would agree--doesn't mean we should not resist wrong forms of enslavement, control, and humanism.
