I believe that there is a perception in the church that if a husband serves is any leadership role in any ministry then automatically the wife needs to serve as a co-leader or the female representative of the ministry. Is there something wrong if my wife feels like she does not want to serve in that capacity but fully supports the husband’s desire to do so? Is that perception a trend that we see in the Bible or just something that has developed from tradition?... The feedback I got from one of our church leaders is "It could make for an awkward situation." —Nikolas Reece (Port of Spain Trinidad)
This is tradition pure and simple, even though backed up by strong pragmatic considerations. Not all traditions are bad.
Each couple and each local church leadership group will need to decide how it will best serve the needs of the church.
