Here in Turkey it's not that easy to get sources to teach us about Christianity. I have a question: Are the Nag Hammadi documents true, or did somebody make them up to confuse the believers? If they are true, do they contradict the Bible we read? -- Sezar (Istanbul)
The documents you refer to, discovered in Egypt in 1945, are Gnostic texts. Now while I agree they certainly do confuse believers, I don't think they were written expressly to confuse us. These documents reflect Gnostic Christianity. (For more on this, please scan the website.) Gnosticism became extremely influential in the 2nd century of Christianity, and left behind many literary relics.
In short, no, these documents are neither inspired nor accurate in pointing us to God. They are rather evidence of doctrinal and practical aberrations fairly early in the Christian era.
