I'm trying to understand the idea of male-female relationships -- i.e. marriage, or in my case, dating. My desire is to have a girlfriend, and eventually a wife, but I'm trying to find out if that's what God wants me to do. That's right -- Jesus does say that marriage is not for everybody. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 7:7 that celibacy is a gift. Not everyone has this gift. If you do, you should seriously consider refraining from marriage. That seems to be the clear biblical teaching. If you don't have that gift, you should feel free to seek a wife.
God is unlikely to tell you who to marry. If marriage is the route you choose, it will be your call. And you will need to live with your decision. Which hopefully will be a source of joy and contentment for years to come!
