How does one become married according to scripture?
Actually, the Bible does not specify any one way to become married. This will depend on the laws of the nation in which the marriage is contracted. The Bible does, of course, portray marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. (That may seem to be stating the obvious, but these days one can never be too sure!)
Marriage has both legal and spiritual dimensions. So while no government has the right to redefine marriage against the teaching of the scriptrues, the Bible generally accepts the laws and institutions of society as to how a couple become legally married.
