In 2 Chronicles 22:7-9 and 2 Kings 9:27, there are two accounts of Ahaziah's death. In the version from Kings, Ahaziah is said to have escaped to Megiddo and then to have died. But in 2 Chronicles, Ahaziah is captured in Samaria and brought to the king to be killed. How do you reconcile these two passages? --Robert Lee
In ancient times as in modern ones, sometimes more than one person shared a common name. There were two Ahaziahs in biblical times. The one who died in Megiddo was the king of Judah (reigning from Jerusalem). The second was the king of Samaria (also called Israel in the period of the divided kingdom). He is the one who died in Samaria, which was the northern capital. No contradiction!
