Okay, I have been wrestling with Galatians 2:18 for too long now! When Paul speaks of rebuilding what he destroyed, is he speaking of the law he destroyed through dying to it, or the wall of hostility between Jews and Gentiles (Ephesians 2:11-18), or both? Why does rebuilding it prove he is a lawbreaker? Lawbreaker by what means? I have come up with many different ideas and possibilities but I want your take. Please help. --Derek, San Antonio
I believe he refers to the Mosaic Law. If he seeks to be justified by Law, he is missing the entire intent of the law: not to be justified by works, but to be pointed towards God (Christ) as the only way of attaining righteousness.
I agree, this is a hard passage. Anyway, that's where I am.
