About women's appearance -- I would like to get some clarification on Ezekiel 16, because I have seen this passage used time and time again to say that God intended for woman to be wearing expensive clothes and jewerly etc. But it seems to contradict 1 Timothy 2:9-10, where Paul is telling women that they shouldn't wear expensive clothes or jewlery. Are people just taking Ezekiel's allegory out of context to prove a point?
Yes, this is an allegory. An extended illustration. Illustrations illustrate--they do not frame doctrines! Ezekiel 16 neither supports nor condemns jewelry, coiffure, or nice clothes.
Modesty is what the N.T. scriptures enjoin.
