Do you think the remains of James the Just are in the church of St. James of Compostela (Santiago de Compostela) in Spain?
Reply from Joseph Harris (Augusta, GA): No, the claim is that these are the remains of James the Greater (son of Zebedee), not James the Just (the brother of the Lord). I doubt his remains are actually in Compostela. This seems to be a medieval legend (9th century), not even mentioned before the 9th century, lacking biblical basis, and nowhere recorded in early church tradition. Still, it has been a popular pilgrim destination for centuries.
