THE RELIGION OF POWER, by Cheryl Forbes (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1983) will make you think. I bought it in connection with my purchse of Francine Rivers' AND THE SHOFAR BLEW. They complement one another quite well. The church has been deeply influenced to attain and wield power as the world attains and wields it, contrary to Jesus' repeated instructions and warnings.
This book may make some readers feel uncomfortable. Maybe we need to feel uncomfortable. I recommend it. Forbes' book is an intriguing analysis of power.
